The First Blessing after the seeing the blessing was a vision of heaven's works and then the love of his life,"That Jacob!" {of Christ and His Church}?

Genesis 28 and 29

Christ loves his church more than Jacob loved Rachel. He favored her. His affection was clearly for her and his labors were lessened because she was at the end of it

.

Oh how much our Savior has labored on behalf of our souls. He has given His own life’s blood and then for generations He has labored to deliver the Word through His Spirit to cleanse her and make her a glorious Church, not having spot or wrinkle. Jacob was blessed to love that deeply and reflect Christ’s love for His Church and Abraham was blessed to reflect Christ’s love for His children to tend and care and impress them with His own impressions, more than anything else on earth.

“He loved his own to the end” He ever liveth to make intercession for us… Yet, it was not without imploring that Rachel would be blessed with children. This seems so odd. Why would not a love that was so deep to labor and direct itself solely would be childless. There was some lesson in this that the Jews have probably pondered and passed down in their heritage that we are not privy to. Still it is a part of our spiritual heritage. What an encouragement to the weary soldier who sees so little fruit for his much preaching and so many young people fleeing for greener pastures, when one who loves their souls and labors for their good is wanting to shepherd them to heaven. Not a wolf, but a shepherd and still they wander. God has the love between Jacob and Rachel to show us the lesson of. We will reap, if we faint not! And implore our Savior for sheeves “in that day”.
