Sometimes, standing on your head can give you an advantage of insight that you wouldn't otherwise have had...
thus it was for me this morning. I am, far too old to stand on my head these days. Somedays standing on my feet is a task. Today felt like a new and different moment of truth. It rained all day. All day is not the usual weather here in NC. The dank and chilly rain that makes your bones feel sore, kind of rainy day is not what we get too often, but it was the weather of the day. Even on Saturdays, I rise before 6 am. I am up and Adam and have a task list that is to the floor. God's comforts had gripped me this week and it was like the first day you take a cast off of a broken leg. My heart had been in a cast for a long, long time. This young man had come to church and taught us about grief. It was cathartic. As it usually is, when God moves someone to share His mercies and kindnesses and how he had come into this young mans life more and more through his suffering. The angels were popping five of God's blessing and I was saying amen in my soul.
I felt lightened by it. I hadn't exactly figured out why I chose to go to the service and I had forgotten what the subject was and had I remembered before the time I would have conveniently gotten a headache and taken to my bed. Since I was there already, I stayed. I am glad I didn't drive myself. I would have left as soon as he said he lost his mother at a young age. I don't like to imagine that. But I stayed and got blessed, in spite of myself.
Back to today... My providential reading of the scripture took me to Deuteronomy 28 and Hebrews 6 another place in scripture that I really don't like to camp out at. I did see through my spiritual binoculars which I obtained at the meeting on Wednesday night the kindness of God in the forward and the backward of those two passages. Amazing Grace!
We are blessed in the city and in the country and in our going in and in our coming out and in our health and etc., etc. there are also curses that are there in both passages, but you know what that means? don't let go of Jesus! He is the only one who can turn your infirmities into blessings. Jesus paid the price of all of the things that we are and do. Jesus paid his life's blood to make us free from the laws of sin and death
Free to know Him is the providential reading that I enjoyed this morning. Blessings/Cursings times Cursings/ Blessings means that God is bigger than any problem you have might have or will have! He is the beginning and the end and the author of the faith that he has given. don't let Him go!
Amen and me too. 31 years ago I was in labor with my Evelyn Hope! God saved this visual for my 31st anniversary of becoming her mother. I am so grateful!
